The A-Type
The A-Type is Powers Electric's slim, fully hollow-body electric guitar, designed by Andy Powers and inspired by Southern California surf, skate, and hot-rod culture. It's the brand's sole current model, offered in dozens of solid and transparent-burst color finishes.
About this guitar
The A-Type is the flagship and currently only model from Powers Electric, the standalone guitar-design venture from Taylor Guitars’ Chief Guitar Designer Andy Powers. It’s a trussed, slim hollowbody built for light weight and resonant, feedback-resistant tone, with an asymmetrical shape drawn from Southern California’s surf, skate, and auto culture. It pairs a solid maple top over an Urban Ash body with a one-piece mahogany neck and an asymmetrical split-radius Honduran rosewood fingerboard, plus Powers’ own FF42/PF42 single-coil pickups. Players choose between the proprietary CamTail vibrato tailpiece or a top-loading hardtail. The A-Type is sold through Powers Electric’s small dealer network rather than direct, with dozens of solid and burst finish options available, several at a finish-based upcharge.
