Amp Crash
A collaboration with Rainger FX built around a real 3-watt amplifier, 2" internal speaker, and microphone inside a pedal, blending the direct amp signal with the mic'd sound for physical overdrive, fuzz, and feedback textures, plus built-in reverb, echo, and chorus.
About this amp
Amp Crash, a collaboration between Death By Audio and Rainger FX, puts a real 3-watt amplifier, a 2” internal speaker, and a microphone inside a stompbox. Rather than simulating amp tone electronically, it generates it physically: the amp drives the speaker, the mic captures what the speaker is actually doing, and the direct and mic’d signals blend at the output. That interaction produces harmonics, feedback, and compression that only happen because air is moving inside the enclosure.
Controls cover gain, tone, and independent DI/mic output levels, plus a multi-effects section (reverb, echo, chorus) with shared depth/time controls. A mic gate keeps the internal mic from picking up unwanted noise. An external speaker-cab output (8Ω minimum) lets it drive a real cab instead of its own internal speaker.
Useful as a physical amp-in-a-box for pedalboards, a compact recording/practice tool, or an experimental sound-design platform.
