EC-1 Single Head dTape Echo
By Strymon
A single-head tape echo pedal modeled on a heavily modified vintage Echoplex, complete with its tube-preamp coloration.
About this pedal
EC-1 builds on the single moving-head tape delay algorithm from Strymon’s El Capistan, but its voicing is drawn from a specific vintage Echoplex EP-2 that had been modified by a well-known guitar tech to sound closer to a warmer EP-3. The result favors low-frequency richness, tape saturation, and smooth echo decay, with selectable tube-preamp voicings, artifact-free tap tempo, discrete stereo processing, and MIDI control of tempo and patches.
