Guitar Pedal Repair & Mods Near You

A pedal that cuts out, crackles or won't turn on usually has a bad jack, a worn footswitch or a loose power connector. Those are quick fixes, and much cheaper than a new pedal. The techs listed here do guitar pedal and effects repair, plus mods like true-bypass conversions and gain or EQ changes.

Shopping for a new pedal instead? Browse the pedals directory. Several listings here also fix amps, so check the amp repair directory if you need both.

How to choose a pedal tech

  • Say whether you want a repair or a mod. Some techs only fix pedals, and others specialize in modifications.
  • Ask about minimum fees. Pedal repairs are often quick, so a minimum bench charge can be most of the bill.
  • For discontinued pedals, ask whether the tech can source the original parts.
  • Mail-in is usually practical for pedals. They're small and ship well, so you don't need a local tech.

Common questions

What are the most common reasons a pedal stops working?

A dirty or worn jack, a bad power connection and a failed footswitch cover most of it. All three are quick for a tech to find and fix.

What's a true-bypass mod?

It rewires a pedal's switching so your signal skips the circuit completely when the effect is off. It's a common mod on older pedals that send your signal through a buffer even when bypassed.

Is it worth repairing an old pedal, or should I just replace it?

For jacks, switches and pots, repair is usually cheaper than a new pedal. If the fault is in the core circuit of a rare pedal, ask the tech for an estimate before you decide.
