Fairfax Class A Output Stage Drive
By Strymon
A fully analog Class A drive pedal that emulates a miniature tube amplifier's power section, including its output transformer saturation.
About this pedal
Fairfax is the first pedal in Strymon’s analog-only ‘Series A’ line, built to behave like a tiny tube amplifier rather than a typical drive stompbox. An internal transformer-based supply steps the 9V input up to 40V so the circuit can reproduce authentic tube-amp headroom, harmonic richness, and a variable Sag response that ranges from a mild push to a gated, fuzz-like breakup. It’s a simple, two-knob analog design with no MIDI, USB, or digital processing.
