Ron Pinkham started Woodsound Studio in his Maine living room in 1975 after years of studying classical guitar, and the shop has been in its 4,200-square-foot building on Route 1 in Glen Cove, Rockport, since 1989. The upstairs workshop repairs and restores both fretted and orchestral stringed instruments, which few shops take on under one roof: vintage Martins and classical guitars share the bench with violins, cellos and bows. Ron also builds Pinkham steel-string and classical guitars, and the showroom downstairs sells and rents acoustic instruments. Summer performers at Bay Chamber Concerts and Kneisel Hall bring their instruments here for maintenance.
